AQW: One thing I wish I knew sooner.
A Quick Word on: The thing I wish I knew sooner.
My journey to becoming a coach started with a transformational coaching experience I had myself. There were SO MANY ah-ha moments. From the first session, I felt lighter and clearer. And over time, I experienced a shift that would change the trajectory of my career and my life as a whole.
I remember in the last session with my coach reflecting on how much I’d learned about myself and about my power to influence my career and life, no matter the circumstances. I was excited about all of it for sure. But there was a part of me that was a bit angry, too. ‘I could have saved myself a LOT of struggle and pain if I’d known all of this sooner!’
I now know that everything has and continues to unfold exactly as it was meant to happen. But that is NOT going to stop me from sharing with you the ONE thing I wish I’d known sooner! Ready? Here we go:
I know what’s best for me.
Even when it feels like I don’t, I am the ONLY person who can truly know what is best for me. Even when my brain is overloaded with competing points of view, choices and obstacles, the answer to my burning question is somewhere deep inside. I may find inspiration and information from sources outside of me, but ultimately these inputs are only going to confirm or deny what I already know in my head, heart or gut. (BTW, next week’s newsletter is going to be about an what I recently learned how to sift through all the feedback and opinions out there!)
With all of that said, the question I invite you to consider this week is:
Who defines success (a.k.a. ‘what’s best’) for you?
As always, I'd love to hear what comes up for you when you read this. In particular, what’s the one thing you wish YOU knew sooner? Just hit reply - I respond to every email.
Rooting for you,
Joy
