AQW: Celebrating

A QUICK WORD ON: CELEBRATING

‘So…how will you celebrate?’

This is a question I ask a lot. Most recently…

…I asked this question while on a walk with a friend who just hit a major milestone on the road to publishing her first book.

…I asked it in a coaching session with a client I’ve worked with for years. She’d just reached the one-year mark in her job. A job that a year ago, she wasn’t at all sure she’d find.

…I asked it over text of a brand new client who had plucked up the courage to propose a new role for herself to her boss (and the idea was received very warmly).

And you know what, 99% of the time I ask this question, the answer I get in response is the same. It is some version of:

“Well… I’m not breaking out the bubbly just yet. I still have a ton of work ahead.”

When my new client texted me her version of that very answer to my question, I sent the following text back to her:

👈 Me making a case for celebrating our wins.

She - and all of the women I mention above - found ways to celebrate their wins in the end. They ranged from a mindful walk, to a special small gift for themselves, to a glass of champagne. And each of them found energy and meaning in this simple act.

Cut to a few days after the text exchange with my new client. I’d finished building something big. I’d been dreaming about it for three years and working on it intensely for 6 months. With this huge milestone reached, my husband exclaimed, ‘Amazing, babe! We should celebrate!’

My response? You guessed it, I launched into an explanation of all the work ahead, and all the reasons it wasn’t exactly a raging success yet. 🙄

And then…I felt compelled to look back at the text I’d sent a few days earlier.

David and I had a lovely dinner out, in case you are wondering. 😉

And I’m feeling energised, grounded and ready to build on that win.

So, what’s your win (big or small!) this week? And how will you celebrate?

BONUS CONTENT

Making a habit of celebrating your wins is your lowest hanging fruit when it comes to professional and personal development. It’s relatively easy, super enjoyable and dang, the impact can be HUGE. And so, I designed a tool to support the systematisation of this important habit. I normally share it at the end of the year because that’s a great time to reflect back on our wins, but you know when is an even better time for that? RIGHT NOW.

WORK WITH ME

I support female leaders to hone their authentic leadership style and write the next bold chapter of work and life.  It's the most rewarding work of my career to date and there are TWO ways I currently do it.

1️⃣ I run an online, self-paced course designed to support emerging female leaders in creating their unique and powerful gameplan for more progression, impact, fulfilment and FUN in their careers and beyond.

2️⃣ I support high-performing female leaders inside of bespoke, 1-to-1 coaching partnerships to produce extraordinary results by bridging the gap between where they are now and where they want to be.  If you are curious about what a coaching partnership with me could look like, get in touch and we’ll have a chat. We’ll either conclude that we are a good fit, or I’ll share some resources/ideas/referrals of where you might find the support you need.

Celebrating you always,

Joy

P.S. In case you missed it, enrolment in August for Progress with Purpose. This is my self-paced online course designed to support female leaders to take ownership of progressing their careers in full alignment with their values and priorities.  If this sounds remotely interesting to you, I highly recommend you join the waitlist.

P.P.S. Always feel free to get in touch if the spirit moves you or to share this with a friend if you think it might resonate!
